To end our week of events, we thought it would be good to close things off with Holly Springs! They are having their Fourth of July celebrations the day after the Fourth! On Sunday, July 5th head to Holly Springs for crafts, coloring, corn hole tournaments, music, face paint and so much more! So how does two days of celebrating sound? Fireworks start at 9:15 pm and will last 15 minutes. Below we also have a parking map to help you out.

This year will be the fourth annual Fit Cary event, offering several free options to the public to help get into a fit routine this Spring. The entire month of Cary is “Fit Cary” Month, so keep track of upcoming events in the area to attend with Family and Friends! In addition to the fitness events, Cary is doing a BINGO game in which participants complete a health/wellness activity to receive a stamp. More information and the card itself can be found at the site listed below.
For more, search “Fit Cary Month” at http://www.townofcary.org or call 919-460-4974.
Located in the renovated historic building The Proenade, Common Grounds Coffee is a wonderful spot in Downtown Apex to get your morning dose of caffeine. You can also grab some ice cream, tea or a sandwich while you are there! Local coffee shops are wonderful hangouts to read the morning paper or catch up on local news. Friday and Saturday nights also feature music from artists in the area, a great way to spend the weekend supporting the local scene.

Market Watch released a new article today that ranks Cary, North Carolina as #8 in the Best Cities to Live in the United States in 2014. Even those who live around the area should take pride in this, the Triangle Area is a Beautiful location to find work and raise a family. I have posted below a portion of the article that reflects just Cary, but feel free to click on the Link Here to read the entire article and see what other cities made the cut.
“8. Cary, N.C.
Median household income: $86,151
Unemployment rate, 2013: 4.80%
Median home value: $298,200
Violent crime per 100,000 residents: 81.6
Average commuter travel time: 22.1 minutes
A typical home in Cary is worth nearly $300,000, roughly double the statewide median home value. While Cary’s real-estate market is relatively expensive, taxes are quite low, equal to less than 1% of typical home values. Nearby Raleigh, which is much larger, tends to be a more popular destination among state residents. Downtown Cary, however, is developing rapidly. In recent years, Cary has attracted high numbers of new businesses and young entrepreneurs. With the unemployment rate at less than 5% last year, the local economy seems to be doing well. According to IHS Global Insight, the Raleigh-Cary metro area is expected to be among the fastest-growing economies in the U.S.”
Do we have any Baseball fans out there? I know that North Carolina doesn’t have a Major League team, but we do have the Muddy Mud Cats, Durham Bulls and College Level baseball to watch and enjoy! The USA Baseball National Training Complex is actually located in Cary, North Carolina.
The Complex houses many events, not only for youth to develop their skills, but even the Tournament of Stars where over 100 players from the Major Leagues come to show off their skill. There are work outs, games and skill development sessions; you can find the full schedule on their website linked below. USA Baseball, the program not MLB, has been around since the 1980’s, though this complex is fairly new to the Cary area. The purpose of USA Baseball has been a tool for amateur players, as well as a representing member of the US Olympic Committee.

Have you been to Koka Booth Amphitheatre? They have all kinds of events like Beer, Bourbon and BBQ, Fireworks during the Fourth of July, and so much more. One of my favorite events that they have through out the summer is Movies by Moonlight sponsored by WakeMed. There are still a couple showings left this season such as Despicable Me 2 on August 8th, Captain Phillips on August 9th and a Grease Sing-A-Long on August 23rd.
You can call or check out their website for more information on events that they have going on through out the year. If you are unsure about an event due to weather, you can always call the venue the day of and they will let you know what the plan is, which can be very helpful! Keep an eye out for some events going on later on in the year that might be posted here on Lifestyles of the Triangle NC!
